Great tour! Would book again We reserved a private tour and it was totally worth it! We wanted the kids to have an awesome experience without a crowd but I don’t know who had a better time them or the adults! We learned a lot and had a great experience all around. Highly recommend booking - experienced staff, very informative. We bought the lobsters we caught at a great rate and had a delicious dinner after a great day!

Best Tour! We learned so much about the history of the Portland waterfront and of course, lobsters. My son loved that he was able to help bring up the cage and hold lobsters and crab. Highly recommend this tour for families looking for something to do in Portland.

Great This was a fabulous event. We met up with the captain and crew and headed out into the bay. Along the way they pointed out several points of interest . We pulled four lobster pots and inspected the catch. Very informative and educational. The ladies were extremely informative.

For 90 minutes you're part of the crew, wicked fun. Everyone participates on board. Arrrrrr matey, you're now part of the crew. You'll be putting dead fish in bait bags. You'll be emptying old bait bags and feeding the gulls. You'll be measuring for size and hoping for 'keepa's'. You'll get to pose with the biggest lobsters. This is not a cruise. It's an experience! You'll need to wash your hands afterwards Also one person was gull bombed. Hilarious. You'll learn all about lobsters. "The males have the hard appendage and the females have the soft one." ha ha ha. This was the highlight of our get away weekend to Portland. A few comments... the boat is the cleanest lobster boat you will ever see. They cleaned continuously throughout the trip. It's covid safe, people are spaced more than 6 feet apart. It's open air, but was not very cold even at the end of October. RESERVE EARLY. They sell out quickly. The Captain and Mate are totally charming and fun. A good time is guaranteed for all. Don't miss it.

Such a Fun Time! This was hands down my favorite thing that we did when visiting Portland! Our guides were super informative and fun, and the boat ride was the perfect length of time. Do not skip out on this if you’re in the area!

So much fun! My wife and I absolutely loved our lighthouse tour in late September. The weather was perfect. We learned so much about the lighthouses, islands, and lobster catching. We got to help set and change traps and left with a couple of lobsters that we had cooked to perfection next door after the tour. The captain and guide were fun and informative and interacted really well with everyone on board.

Baby lobsters are crazy fierce!! This was our most pleasant surprise of our trip. We had an absolute blast on the boat. Social distancing was followed and everyone got an opportunity to take part in the lobster boat experience. We got a great history of lobster fishing as well as current practices. The staff were friendly, energetic, patient, and you could tell they loved their jobs. Quick tip - wear sunscreen, even if it is cloudy/misty. We did get a little pink on our faces even though it was cloudy and cool.

Maine Lobstering Tours

Come join us for an unforgettable excursion on the waters of Casco Bay while we guide you through the daily routines of a Maine Lobsterman. Participate in the excitement of hauling up the traps or sit back and relax as we cruise near picturesque lighthouses, historic civil war forts, and the “Seal Rocks”.

Each of our lobster tours lasts for 80-90 minutes and passenger numbers are limited to ensure that everyone gets an up-close and personal Maine lobstering experience.

You’ll see how these tasty treats get from the bottom of the ocean to your dinner plate and learn about lobster habits, conservation efforts and the difference between hard shells, shedders, shorts, culls, and keepers. Any lobsters we catch can be purchased after the cruise for wholesale “boat” price, and if you don’t have a pot at home, take them across the pier to the Portland Lobster Company restaurant for the freshest lobster dinner anywhere.

A diverse variety of marine life will enter a lobster trap, and some common visitors include rock crabs, snails, starfish, and hermit crabs. Our see-thru “live tank” offers a chance to watch these little creatures until the end of the day when all are thrown back into the sea.

In addition to lobstering, the Lucky Catch can provide a wide selection of private charters including birthdays, corporate outings, cocktail cruises, bird watching and island dining transportation. If you have an idea for a custom charter, let us know and we’ll try to make it work for you!
